1) Short Description of TRAI.

The Telecom authority of India comes under the section 3 of Telecom regulatory Act India, it was formed in 1997. It is the regulator of Telecommunications of India.

2) NewTraffic operator 2.0{NTO2.0}

You must be thinking when NTO2.0 will be followed by dish provider in India. But let me tell you that it has been following by broadcaster from long time in India.

Under the NTO 2.0 it has provided guidelines to D2H and cable operators that 200 channel is provided under 153Rs. You have to select channels . And d2h Operator and cable operator also offer different kind of packs by names like value pack,free pack etc.

The main question is here that when paid channel like Zee tv, Colors,Star Tv etc. Price will fall down. Like this channels cost around 19 Rs. today so when will we get this channels on Rs.12?

3)Broadcaster stand:

The Broadcaster don't want to lower the price. So they reached out Mumbai High court with appeal not to lower the price of their channel. As this would benefit customer only and will cost them loss on their business.

NTO 2.0 was expected to launch around 10 of August. But due to interference of the Broadcaster it was postponed and not launched till yet. The news is that Bombay High court going to take decision soon and also has fixed the date which is unknown to us. The case can go with Broadcaster or Customer. There is no rumor about that from their side.

4) Benefits to customer:

If channel price drop down from 19 to 12 Rs. Per month then. It will become more accessible and cheaper for consumer to subscribe New channels Ala-Crate .

5) TRAI stand:

TRAI said that if broadcaster don't support to idea to drop down the price of their channels then. They can't provide channel in bouquet . For example you get Sony Tv, Sony Max,Sony six etc. in a bundle . If broadcaster oppose the TRAI View then they have to provide channel Ala-crate (single channel system ) channels can't be added to bouquet. Which is also cost loss to the Broadcaster. Because it will ne expensive for customer to buy channel Ala-Crate . But if broadcaster support TRAI then broadcaster sell channel as Ala-Crate as well as on Bouquet too.

Broadcaster stand:

As we know IPL is coming. Which will lead to people buy subscription for star,sony and sports pack etc. Therefore star ,sony sony is standing on their idea of not lowering down to price. Which will cut down their revenue too.

6) Conclusion:

The  Update which we came across for this case is expected on 16 September.
