Recently, we are getting notification on our phone about the new update on privacy and policy of whatsapp on our mobile application. We have option to whether to accept the terms and condition or to think about the new update till February 8, which is now extended to 15th of May after facing a lot of backlash of the Indian consumers. 

Whatsapp is known for his end to end encryption messaging. Like whatsapp is collecting many data like camera permission to capture images, location permission for sharing live location, battery and many other thing about devices in order to run whatsapp application.

The reaction of new privacy and policy was strong that many people (in million) signed up for the alternatives of the whatsapp like signal, Telegram etc. There is almost 25 million new user signed up for Telegram and signal application become the number one and most downloaded application on its category. So currently Telegram, signal are looking to be the prominent competitor of the Whatsapp right now.

In recent survey only 18% of users voted to use WhatsApp Messenger even after new policy update, 36% people said that they will find alternative of the whatsapp and reduce the usage of whatsapp drastically while 15% of the people claimed that they will permanently stop the usage of the whatsapp.

Another surveys where 24000 response from whatsapp users from 244 district in India. Out of which 24% of people said that they will leave with their whole group from WhatsApp and use it's alternative while 91% of people have decided not to use the Whatsapp payment section.

As I already told that all application whether signal, Telegram and Facebook in fact Google collect our data in order to run their service smoothly and provide you better experience. The whatsapp claim that they don’t share our chats, picture or personal information with facebook. but however regarding the privacy is always an issue with the facebook from long time. As past record in terms of privacy of users with facebook is not good.

Why is WhatsApp using my data?

Basically WhatsApp chats are end to end encrypted and they stored your chats data for sometime in their servers. Like we all know about the Whatsapp buisness. And we are also familiar with the Facebook main revenue model is based on running their Facebook advertisement. 

So, as we all know the whatsapp user base in India is approximately 340 million. So there is a huge business opportunity for Facebook as well as to the sellers.

Infact, Google also store our data. Do you remember when the last time you clicked or visited .xyz/com or any other website. Maybe you don't remember but if you ask Google. Google will tell you exactly at what date, what point of time you clicked on that particular website. We trust on Google privacy as they have more promising privacy and policy in comparison to Facebook.

Maybe you will say "yes" that you will stop using whatsapp and use it's alternative like Signal and Telegram. But wait before you uninstall the whatsapp have a look at following points:

1. If you are uninstalling Whatsapp for privacy reason then what if you are already user of Facebook or Instagram. Are you going to uninstall them too. Because it make only sense when you delete whole Facebook channel or product.
2. Let's say you have uninstall whatsapp and now you are using signal and Telegram but what will you do if this company after a year or two get acquired/purchased by another company like Facebook.

Is there any way to undo/disagree the new WhatsApp policy?

The answer of this is "NO". You can't redo or undo if you have already submitted agreed proposal of the whatsapp. And if you haven't submitted any response till now then you have time till 15th of May after that you will not be able to use the application. If you want to continuation usage of whatsapp application then you have to accept the terms and conditions of WhatsApp new policy.

The only way to postpone this new policy updates or undo/disagree the new WhatsApp policy lie within the hands of Government of India. If our Government make some strict rules/laws that you cannot share our public data to any sources/websites which are not trustable or reliable. Our Government is the only one who has power to stop this ongoing updates.
