Qualcomm Snapdragon will push regular NNAPI updates via Google play service update

The leading chip manufacturer of mobile device Qualcomm Snapdragon will push regular Network API updates via Google play services to their consumers. This was announced by Qualcomm at Google I/O 2021.
Google and Qualcomm partnership and their work together now deliver Neutral Network updates via Google play services updates, which will benefit the Snapdragon powered phones.

This is a reward for you by Google, if you have been loyal to Google Android platform for a decade. Google rewards your loyalty with the applaud worthy updates to the platforms. The latest Android 12 announcements have given a Pixel device more advantage while others aspects are also taken care of by getting updates.
Now the focus of Google is to improve the performance of their devices and this is where Qualcomm has collaborated with Google.

Outcome of Google and Qualcomm collaboration:
The Qualcomm and Google discovered a way to updates Neural Network API (NNAPI) via Google play service update on millions of Smartphones. The NNAPI can directly be downloaded automatically and installed in background. And good news here is that, it will not only work with the new Qualcomm chips but also with the previous compatible chips.

Qualcomm Snapdragon powered devices will get AI updates faster:
Qualcomm states the “they are expanding updatable drives in the AI for their mobile users. Beginning later this year 2021, Qualcomm and Google will proceed offering regular updates for NNAPI. We will make drivers available via Google Play services, and it will automatically update drivers in the background. Further Qualcomm added that the updatable NNAPI drivers won’t only work on latest and powerful chipset but will also be backed by compatible older snapdragon processor as well.

What is NNAPI?
NNAPI is the Android neuaral networks API. Where API is designed for running computationally high intensive operations for machine learning on Android devices. The API is available for all Android devices which is running above Android 8.1 or higher. The API level of Android 8.1 is 27.

Which application get advantage of new AI drivers?
The Google Assistant, Google Maps will get advantage of the new AI drivers updates rollout system. This will overall result in the faster and more good experience for app users. And specially Qualcomm Snapdragon users will be able to run faster with updateable AI drivers.
Prior to NNAPI update, Qualcomm made it available to update the GPU drivers by Google Play Store. And Qualcomm is updating its mobile processor chip range at highly faster pace, with latest chips like Snapdragon 778G and Snapdragon 780G.
Further, Google itself take initiative with its partners to improve its ecosystems of devices. At I/O 2021, Google declares its collaborations with the Samsung and Fitbit is working on Wear OS. The advantage of Wear OS are increased battery life and to deliver a world class range of fitness tracking solutions.
Conclusion:
It’s a great to see, How Google is developing its ecosystem. But it remains a question whether Google will works with other chip manufactures like Media Tek, Samsung Exynos etc. to deliver the same kind of advantage and experience to the non-snapdragon used devices.
