  The big fashion company has decided to change its own logo after a woman reformer filed complaint at State Cyber Police, by claiming that the Myntra Logo was disrespectful towards the women.

The complaint was filed by the Mumbai activist “NAAZ PATEL” with in the collaboration of “AVESTA FOUNDATION (NGO)”. The date when the complaint was filed is December 2020. 

In her complaint, Patel dictates that, the Myntra the e-commerce giant to remove its logo. Further he urged the police to take suitable measures against the company. The Naaz Patel has complained about this matter on various social media platforms and forums too.

Given below are the  hihlighted issue with Myntra Logo: The logo portray ‘ a naked woman’ and the activist chafe to the “offensive logo”. 

The complaint stated that “ colour scheme used on letter “M” of myntra is obscene to eyes of any person of normal wisdom. And naaz dictates that the colour scheme used here is depicting  a woman’s vagina. The color scheme shows her legs spread out in indicatory manner.” 

Thee complaint further claimed that this kind of protryal of women private parts… as an object of lust. And would manipulate with the mind of the viewers and arouse them to disrespect women’s. And this will finally lead into more victimization of the women in our society.

Change in Myntra logo

The Myntra officials said that “they found that the logo was offensive for women. As they have met and talked about the logo with myntra officials. 

 The DCP Rashmi Karandikar of Mumbai police cyber crime department said that the myntra will change its logo with in a month’s time. She further added that “we called the meeting with Myntra official following the complaint. 

Myntra official came and accept to change the logo. We have sent an email as well on the same” The logo will change on all of the company’s site, mobile applications, packaging material and social media handles too.

The “Nandita Gandhi” of Akshara Centre (NGO) who has been playing a major role in the women’s movement from decades. Said that when she relook at the logo after getting the news of this controversy. She couldn’t find any abstract or offensiveness in logo. Neither she was able to find the conventional or pronogrpahical image. 

The advertising expert Sumanto Chattopadhyay (Chairman & CEO of 82.5 communications) said that. We live in hyper connected society where every people has right to raise the voice. It’s not an ideal situation as many people are waiting to take offence and in this diverse climate the thing don’t die down quickly. It’s not and ideal situation for any brand where they are innocent and someone misinterpreted the whole things.

I don’t thinks that there is any thing wrong with the logo. What can one don if a person with dirty mind misinterpret the images or logo. As the logo building in the markets requires lot of money and time for any successful company. Now, All the money and time now is wasted.
